These rolls are filled with ham, cheese, tomatoes and herbs, then baked until golden and crispy.

Savory Puff Pastry Rolls (Ham–Cheese Swirls)

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 150–200 g ham (sliced)
  • 150 g grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar or gouda)
  • 1 tomato, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese or mayonnaise
  • 1–2 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions
  • A pinch of salt & pepper
  • 1 egg for brushing (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the filling

In a bowl mix:

  • diced tomato
  • grated cheese
  • chopped herbs
  • salt & pepper
    You can add a bit of mayonnaise or cream cheese to help bind the filling.

2. Assemble

  1. Unroll the puff pastry.
  2. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese or mayo.
  3. Lay slices of ham evenly.
  4. Spread the cheese–tomato mixture over the ham.
  5. Roll the pastry tightly into a log.
  6. Place the roll in the freezer for 10 minutes (easier to slice).

3. Slice

Cut into slices about 2–3 cm thick (like in your picture).

4. Bake

Place slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Bake at:

190°C (375°F) for 18–25 minutes

—until puffed, crispy and golden.
