Juicy Hamburger Steak with Brown Gravy (like in the photo)
Serves: 3–4
Time: ~30 minutes
Ingredients
For the steaks
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 small onion, very finely grated
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs (or soaked bread)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp oil or butter (for frying)
For the gravy
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1½ cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Make the patties
In a bowl, mix ground beef, grated onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Shape into thick oval or round patties (like the photo). - Cook the steaks
Heat oil/butter in a pan over medium heat.
Fry patties 4–5 minutes per side until nicely browned.
Remove and set aside (keep warm). - Prepare the gravy
In the same pan, add butter.
Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth.
Add soy or Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thick. - Combine
Return patties to the pan.
Spoon gravy over them and simmer 5 minutes until juicy and tender.
