Lentil Bread Buns Recipe

Here’s the recipe for the Healthy Lentil Bread Rolls 🥖✨ — high in protein, gluten-free, and made without flour!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dry green or brown lentils
  • ½ cup water (more if needed)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • Optional: 1 tsp garlic powder, oregano, or cumin for flavor
  • Black sesame seeds (or regular sesame) for topping

Instructions:

1. Prepare the lentils:

  1. Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for at least 3–4 hours (or overnight).
  2. Drain and rinse them again before blending.

2. Blend the dough:

  1. Place the soaked lentils into a blender or food processor.
  2. Add water, olive oil, salt, baking powder, and vinegar.
  3. Blend until smooth and thick (similar to dough consistency).
    • If too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time.

3. Shape the rolls:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Form small balls (about the size of your palm) and place them on the tray.
  4. Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top.

4. Bake:

  1. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown and firm to touch.
  2. Let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
