Recipe: Corn & Meat Dumplings

INTRODUCTION

These homemade dumplings are a delightful blend of savory meat, sweet corn, and aromatic green onions, all wrapped in a tender, steamed dough. Perfect as an appetizer or a satisfying meal, they are packed with flavors that will leave you craving more!

INGREDIENTS:

  • For the filling:
    • 200g ground pork or beef
    • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or frozen)
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely grated
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 3 green onions, finely chopped
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the dumpling wrappers:
    • 300g dumpling wrappers (store-bought or homemade)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, corn, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and green onions. Season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Assemble the dumplings: Lay out a dumpling wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water and fold it in half, pinching the edges to seal. Crimp the edges to form a pleated shape.
  3. Steam the dumplings: Set up a bamboo steamer or a steam rack in a pot of boiling water. Place the dumplings on the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other. Cover and steam for 10-12 minutes or until the wrappers become translucent and the filling is cooked through.
  4. Serve: Remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
