1 large head fresh broccoli (or 4 cups florets)
Water
½–1 tsp salt
Optional: butter or olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, garlic

1️⃣ Prep
Cut into even florets for uniform cooking.
Peel and slice the stalk (it’s delicious too!).
2️⃣ Boil
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.
Add salt.
Add broccoli and cook:
2–3 minutes for tender-crisp
4 minutes max for softer texture
3️⃣ Shock (Secret to Bright Green!)
Immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water for 1–2 minutes.
Drain well.
This stops cooking and locks in that vivid green color.
