🧾 Ingredients

For the meat layer

  • 700–800 g minced meat (beef or beef–pork mix)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 3–4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oregano or thyme
  • 1 tbsp oil

For the sauce

  • 2–3 tomatoes chopped or 200 ml tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
  • Salt, pepper
  • A little oil

For the topping

  • 200–250 g grated cheese (mozzarella + cheddar or any melting cheese)
  • Fresh dill, chopped
  • Optional: 2–3 tbsp sour cream or mayonnaise (for extra creaminess)

Preparation

1. Make the meat base

  1. In a bowl, mix minced meat with onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano.
  2. Spread the meat mixture evenly into a baking dish, pressing it like a “meat crust.”
  3. Bake 15 minutes at 180°C to firm it up slightly.

2. Prepare the tomato layer

  1. Sauté onion in a little oil.
  2. Add tomatoes or tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt & pepper.
  3. Cook 5–7 minutes until it thickens.

3. Assemble

  1. Pour the tomato sauce evenly over the pre-baked meat layer.
  2. Add a thin layer of sour cream or mayo (optional).
  3. Sprinkle generously with grated cheese.
  4. Add chopped dill on top.

4. Bake

Bake again for 25–30 minutes at 180°C until the cheese is golden, bubbly, and melted.
