Savory Beef and Cabbage Pie with Creamy Topping

  1. 300 g ground beef (or beef + pork mix)
  2. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  3. 1 carrot, grated
  4. 200 g cabbage, finely shredded
  5. 2 tbsp oil
  6. Salt and pepper to taste
  7. Optional: a pinch of paprika or garlic powder
  8. 2 eggs
  9. 200 ml milk
  10. 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  11. 150 g flour (about 1 cup)
  12. 1 tsp baking powder
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Prepare the filling
    • Heat oil in a pan.
    • Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
    • Add ground meat and cook until browned.
    • Add grated carrot and shredded cabbage.
    • Season with salt, pepper, and any spices you like.
    • Cook until the vegetables are soft and all liquid evaporates. Let it cool.
  15. Make the batter
    • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and salt.
    • Add flour and baking powder, mix until smooth.
  16. Assemble
    • Grease a baking dish.
    • Pour half the batter into the dish.
    • Spread the meat and vegetable filling evenly.
    • Pour the remaining batter on top to cover the filling.
  17. Bake
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 35–40 minutes,
      until golden brown on top and firm inside.
  18. Serve
    • Let it cool slightly before cutting.
    • Serve warm as a main dish or snack.
