classic Tiramisu

Recipe Introduction:

This classic Tiramisu is a decadent and creamy dessert that’s incredibly easy to prepare. Layers of soft, coffee-soaked ladyfingers are combined with a rich mascarpone cream, making every bite a delightful treat. A dusting of cocoa powder on top adds the perfect finishing touch to this Italian favorite. Perfect for any occasion or as a sweet ending to a meal!

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of ladyfinger cookies
  • 2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons rum or coffee liqueur (optional)
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate, grated (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Brew the coffee and allow it to cool. If you’re using rum or coffee liqueur, add it to the coffee for an extra depth of flavor.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream mixture until smooth and combined.
  4. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee (don’t soak them too long), then arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a serving dish.
  5. Spread a layer of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
  6. Repeat the layers—another layer of dipped ladyfingers and then another layer of mascarpone cream—until you run out of ingredients, finishing with a layer of cream.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld together.
  8. Just before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and optionally sprinkle with grated dark chocolate.
  9. Serve chilled and enjoy your homemade tiramisu!

Tip: For a twist, you can add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a layer of shaved chocolate between the layers!
